Book Haul

January 2016 Book Haul~

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. September was the last one actually. I did buy 2 books in December but it wasn’t worth a haul. Anyway, I’m back and I’m super excited with the books I bought this month before going back on a book buying ban. (IT WILL HAPPEN).

Barnes and Noble!

My grandma gave me a gift card to BN for Christmas (Sadly the only book related Christmas gift I got, T-T). Of course I ended up spending way more than the gift card but it was totally worth it. ūüėÄ

Barnes and noble haul

From top to bottom:

  • The Night Circus by Erin¬†Morgenstern- Goodreads
  • Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan¬†– Goodreads
  • A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray- Goodreads
  • Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge¬†– Goodreads
  • In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken – Goodreads
  • Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi – Goodreads¬†– Reviewamazon haul

I usually try to avoid buying books from Amazon to be honest but after reading part 1 of Persepolis I couldn’t wait to get my hands on part to so I ordered it almost as soon as I finished the first part.

Half Price Books!!!

half price books haul

I went to Half Price Books to sell some books I didn’t like or books I knew I would read. I made $8 off about 10 books which is actually a really good exchange for the store but then I ended up spending almost $60 on 7 more books so it’s really kind of a moot point.

  • Disney Princess Art Therapy (let me know if you guys might like reviews of adult coloring books because I color a lot tbh)
  • The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness¬†– Goodreads
  • The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness – Goodreads
  • Four by Veronica Roth – Goodreads
  • Blameless by Gail Carriger – GoodreadsReview
  • Heartless by Gail Carriger – Goodreads
  • Timeless by Gail Carriger – Goodreads

Book Haul

September 2015 Book Haul~

I KNOW I was supposed to be on a book buying ban. But I definitely did much better with buying books compared to July and August. This month I bought 8 books. Almost all of which are helping to complete series I already own so it’s a win-win situation because I would have had to have bought them before anyway. (is it obvious I’m making excuses???)

Afterword Books!

When I found out my temp position was ending two weeks earlier than originally planned, I decided I needed a pick-me-up which is why I went to my favorite indie bookshop in Chicago. Shopping always makes me feel better. I gave myself the limit of only buying 4 books and I stuck to that limit.

  • Is Everyone Hanging Out with Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling – GoodreadsReview
  • Gone by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge – Goodreads
  • The Martian by Andy Weir – Goodreads
  • Insurgent by Veronica Roth – Goodreads
Barnes and Noble!!

As a going away gift, my boss got all my coworkers to sign this really sweet card that may or may not have made me tear up and also got me a Barnes and Noble gift card. I used this gift card well I think to help complete my Throne of Glass series. I would have bought Queen of Shadows too but the paperback isn’t out yet.

  • The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas – Goodreads
  • Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas – Goodreads
Half Price Books!!!

I went to Half Price to sell a few books and as anyone who’s been there knows, there was no way I was actually going to come away not spending money. That’s probably why they ask you to stick around while they sort through the books. Still I used this time spent (and the whole $5 I earned from my books) to help complete my Ender’s Game series. I still need quite a few books but I’m happy for now.

  • Ender’s Shadow by Orson Scott Card – Goodreads
  • Ender in Exile by Orson Scott Card – Goodreads

Over all I think I did pretty well with only buying books I meant to to help complete series already started in my collection.

Book Haul

August 2015 Book Haul~

Book haul time!!!!¬†This month I bought 14 books.¬†Thankfully this is down by half from how many books I bought last month. My budget can’t sustain constant book buying. Neither can the way I keep my TBR. I had to move my TBR from my nightstand to an actual shelf and it take up the whole thing T-T.

Because of said shelf thing, I’m officially on a book buying ban for the month of September aside from Zeros by Scott Westerfeld most probably.

I had time to kill one day before going to a wine tasting so I went to target. My bad! I just meant to get some cosmetics but stupidly I wondered over to the book section. Not only did I impulse by a cute little book light. I also bought 3 books (thank goodness it was only 3 books tbh)

  • Girl Online by Zoe Sugg – Goodreads
  • Fangirl Collector’s Edition by Rainbow Rowell – Goodreads
  • Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle – Goodreads

I also bought 11¬†books from Bookoutlet.¬†But I didn’t realize I had two versions of A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn. I ¬†liked a different cover they had better so I added it to my cart and forgot to delete the one I had already added. So the other edition is going to half priced books and therefore isn’t featured here. /my bad.

  • A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn – Goodreads
  • Beastly by Alex Flinn (I hate this cover but I wanted the book and it was $2) – Goodreads
  • Diva by Alex Flinn – Goodreads
  • Breathing Underwater by Alex Flinn – Goodreads
  • Withering tights by Louise Rennison – Goodreads
  • Pirate Cinema by Cory Doctorow – Goodreads
  • For the Win by Cory Doctorow – Goodreads
  • Towering by Alex Flinn – Goodreads
  • The Taming of the Tights by Louise Rennison – Goodreads
  • Cloaked by Alex Flinn – Goodreads

In case you couldn’t tell I have a thing for Alex Flinn and when I saw almost all of her books on BookOutlet I couldn’t resist. Especially since most of them were in the 50% off thing that happened mid August. Also I just ordered A Midsummer Tights Dream from BookOutlet because how can I have the first and the third in the series and not the second. It’s still technically August so I’m good.

July Book Haul!!!!!!!

Hello again! Today I bring you my fabulous July book haul! This month I bought a whopping 27¬†books. More books than I’ve bought in the past 4 years if you don’t count my college textbooks tbh¬†(stupid college books with their steep prices). Without further ado in the order that I purchased them!

Barnes and Noble Haul!

I bought a total of 9 books when I random decided to go to Barnes and Noble kind of early in the month. It was like a happy birthday/graduation to me and it was awesome.

  • Blogging for Writers by Robin Houghton – Goodreads¬†(for some reason the version I half isn’t on Goodreads same ISBN though)
  • In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang – GoodreadsReview
  • The Writer’s Lab: A place to Experiment with Fiction by Sexton Burke – Goodreads
  • Writer’s Guide to Character Traits 2nd edition by Linda N. Edelstein – Goodreads
  • Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins – Goodreads Review
  • Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken – Goodreads – Review
  • Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen – Goodreads – Review
  • Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte – Goodreads – Review (note I have the BN leatherbound edition but it’s impossible to find on goodreads)
  • Kisses and Curses presented by Fierce Reads – GoodreadsReview

So I was trying to buy these shoe insert things on Amazon but they ended up being one of those weird add on things so you have to spend a certain amount to get them. (the one thing I truly hate about amazon tbh) which means I decided to go through my amazon wishlist. I picked one I’ve been wanting for a long time and that’s:

  • Self Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne and Dave King – Goodreads

I also bought 5 books from Bookoutlet. Because who can resist good cheap books!

  • A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson – Goodreads – Review
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth – Goodreads – Review
  • Ender’s Game By Orson Scott Card – Goodreads – Review
  • The Cute Girl Network by M.K. Reed, Greg Means, & Joe Flood – Goodreads – Review
  • The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson – Goodreads – Review

wpid-20150721_185740.jpgSo I realized a little too late that The Last Little Blue Envelope is actually the 2nd book in a duology soooooo, I had to do what any normal bookie would do and that’s go to Amazon and order the first book.

  • 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson – Goodreads – Review

My boss took me out to lunch for my birthday. We got to talking and I told her about how much I read and she was like “Oh so you’ve been to the bookstore right over there” and I was like “No. But I’ve been looking for an indie bookstore since I started working in Chicago” and to make this boring story shorter. I went back after work that day and ended up buying 5 books. It’s official. I have an addiction.

  • The Giver by Lois Lowry – Goodreads – Review
  • The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak – Goodreads – Review
  • The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz – Goodreads – Review
  • Soulless by Gail Carriger – Goodreads – Review
  • Changeless by Gail Carriger – Goodreads – Review
Barnes and Noble….Again….

I REALLY need to learn to control myself. For realsies. I can’t seem to help but jump off the deep end whenever I go into a bookstore. I went to get a birthday present for my cousin (which I did get) but also ended up spending money on another 6 books. I’m going on a book buying ban until I finish all the books I currently own. It’s official.

  • The Complete Works of William Shakespeare – Goodreads – Review
  • Cress by Marissa Meyer – GoodreadsReview
  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – GoodreadsReview
  • Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas – Goodreads – Review
  • Storm Front by Jim Butcher – Goodreads – Review
  • Fool Moon by Jim Butcher – Goodreads – Review
