What? What?? What??? It’s Wednesday again!! I’m lame but Hello again. Hope you’re having a nice week!

This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was originally hosted on Should Be Reading. To do the meme answer these three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I can never seem to read just one book at a time. I used to live by that rule but as I’ve gotten older I’ve seen the good in reading multiple things at once. I’m still slogging through A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I seem to read a few pages a day. It’s easy to read but also hard. I like how it’s written but I was hoping for history of the world not history of science. /sigh.

mindy kalingI’ve just started Is Everyone Hanging Out with Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling. I adore her as an actress and person so I’m excited to get into this. Plus it will be used as the memoir on the PopSugar 2015 Reading Challenge.

I’m about half way through Colleen Hoover’s Finding Cinderella. It’s a novella and the first thing I’ve read by Colleen Hoover. I’ve heard such mixed reviews that when I saw it on Amazon free I decided to try it to see if I liked her writing/characters/plots or if I tended to swing the other way. So far I’m enjoying it.

I’m also in the middle of Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard and unfortunately I’m not digging it. I want more world building and I find the MC a bit annoying. I’m going to push through because honestly I’m not very far into it but so far it’s slow goings.

I almost forgot, I’m listening to the audiobook of Emma by Jane Austen. I seem to have unknowingly joined the Austen in August thing because I’ve been in the mood for her and since discovering Juliet Stevenson’s awesome narrations I’m having a hard time stopping!

What did you recently finish?

I haven’t been reading much. August has been super busy between a family reunion and helping my friends move back to the dorms. Which is to say that I’ve read only 3 books since last week. I hate not reading so much but I’ve also had a hard time finding something I’m in the mood for. I finished:

What do you plan on reading?

Honestly I can’t say what I might read next. I’m hoping to read Imperfect chemistry by Mary Frame and Girl Online by Zoe Sugg but with my current reading mood fluctuating so much I’m having a hard time deciding what to read. I guess we shall see!

Once again I wish my reading week was better but alas, 600 page books take forever!

What are you currently reading?

For once I’m not reading a ton of books at the same time. I’m in the middle of Storm Front by James Butcher. It’s going well but I can’t seem to read more than a few chapters at a time. I am enjoying it but I seem to enjoy it best in small doses.

I’m pushing through A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I have to say it’s not what I expected and I’m a bit disappointed. I thought it give brief histories of most of the prominent cultures on Earth and how they evolved with time. Like run throughs of major historic events that we know about. Instead it seems to be the history of science and science has never been my forte.

I’m also listening to the audiobook of Persuasion by Jane Austen. I’ve read it before but don’t really remember it and found it was on sale for 2.99 (when normally it’s more than $30!) on audible when I looked it up to put on my wish list. I think listening to classics may be the thing to helping me enjoy them more.

What did you recently finish?

Honestly. I marathoned a trilogy where each book was basically 600 pages so I didn’t get a lot else done but I’d say that’s pretty good!

Actually, that’s a lot more than I thought it would be. I’m also super excited Never Fade is no longer on hold!!!

What do you plan on reading?

I’m so bad with actually reading the books I put here. My mood dictates what I pick up. Right I think it might be Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard and/or The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen. I also still hope to read Changeless by Gail Carriger soon.

WWW Wednesday

Wednesday yet again! Time for another WWW!!

This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was originally hosted on Should Be Reading. To do the meme answer these three questions:

What did you recently finish reading?

What are you currently reading?

I’m in the middle of several books. Still on hold with Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. I hope to start reading this again this week though. I think I’ve finally drifted enough away from contemporaries that I can deal with a fantasy dystopian again. lol.

xmas choclatI just started Christmas Chocolat by Kate Defrise. I’m only a few pages in but I’m having a few issues with the writing style. It’s not cohesive enough. I’m not far enough in to give up on it yet but so far I’m kind of eh. This is an ARC I’ve received from Netgalley so I want to be able to push through to give honest feedback. It’s also kind of hard to read about Christmas in August.

Finally, I started reading A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. It’s fun and easy to read through. It’s written like your getting wisdom from a grandfather or something. I’m really enjoying it and learning a few things too.a dicovery of witches

A reread for me, I recently bought all of the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness on Kindle so I’m rereading the first one: A Discovery of Witches. It’s been about 4 years so I first read it and I barely remember what happens. I’ve read the second one but never got to the third which is why I bought them all. I’ve been in the mood for adult paranormal/fantasy which is extremely unusual for me and also explains the next book.

On the recommendation of Lindsey Rey on her booktube channel, I picked up Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I’m enjoying it so far. It’s definitely different from my normal tastes because I tend not to read books with male protagonists especially in such a long series. I’m interested to see how this goes and if it will help me pick up more series with a male protag.

Last but not least, I’m listening to the audiobook of Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. I had a hard time reading this book but I’m absolutely LOVING the audiobook. I’m having a hard time stopping myself from listening.

What did you recently finish?

Since I have so many books ongoing I haven’t finished much. It makes sense that coming off the high of finishing 10 books last week, this week I’ve only finished 4 books. Which isn’t bad but still no where near 10. 🙂

I have mixed feelings about all these books except The Winter Sea. My reviews should be up soon!

What do you plan on reading?

I plan on picking Never Fade back up to finish. I hate having a book hold for so long. If I don’t find interest it in by next Wednesday I’ll probably be forced to DNF it. I still want to read Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond and perhaps Changeless by Gail Carriger.

Hello my loves~ Here’s my What’s. 😀

What are you currently reading?

I’m still on hold with Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken. I keep picking it up just to reread the first few paragraphs of the chapter I’m on several times and then set it back down. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to finish this series. I have such a hard time forcing myself through books.

I’m also reading The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley. It’s an amazing novel that I’ve already read before a few years ago and I’m having just as hard of a time putting it down now as I was then. It’s historical fiction and I just love the entire premise behind it. I want to pick up more of her books but they all have mixed reviews so we’ll see.

I’m about quarter of the way into The Shadow Cabinet by Maureen Johnson, which is the third book in the Shade series. I’ve followed her on Twitter for years but why haven’t I decided to start reading her books til now? She’s so witty and her characters are amazingly real and flawed.

What did you recently finish?

I’ve finished TEN books in the past week. I’ve kind of been reading non stop and I’m not sorry at all. Now I just have to catch up on writing the reviews. /oops.

What do you plan on reading?

This week I’m hoping to get to A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. It’s hard for me to start because I don’t want to carry around that huge ass book and most of my reading is done on my commute on the train. I’ve given up on reading Wuthering Heights. (More about this in my wrap up/TBR). So I also want to start in on Jim Butcher’s Storm Front. And maybe Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond.

Hello again. Guess what day it is????

This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was originally hosted on Should Be Reading. To do the meme answer these three questions:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

boxers and siantsAs of right now, I’m in the middle of Boxers from the Boxers & Saints Duology. They’re graphic novels one is about a village boy who fights against foreigners who are bullying native people and the other is a parallel of a village girl who is saved because foreigners come and spread Christianity giving her something to do. So far it’s kind of eh for me. I’m hoping it gets better.

I’m also reading Soulless by Gail Carriger. So far I LOVE this book. At first I was a little weary. I thought Alexia would kind of annoy me but so far I’ve really loved her and I’m excited to continue reading.

I’m still in the midst of 1984 as well. I have such a hard time pushing through classics. It’s good but I just can’t read it the way I normally do and I don’t like that. I’m still going to finish it but it’s slow goings.

I’ve also started reading The Pact by Karina Hale. I have a lot of spare time at work so I’ve been kind of cycling through ebooks. I’m find my current ebooks hard to read more than a few chapters at once so it’s nice a lot of options. So far I’m liking this one. I hope it stays that way.

I’ve also started rereading The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening by L. J. Smith. I’ve been meaning to reread this for a while.vamp diaries I read it way before the TV show came out but now I’m reading it as part of my 2015 challenge for a series adapted to movie or TV. So far I’m not impressed. I don’t like it nearly as much as I did when I was 15ish. And I think my age might have something to do with that.

I’ve also put Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken on hold. For some reason I just can’t get into it. I can’t tell if I’m just not in the mood for what it’s offering of if my disdain for how the characters have changed from book 1 to book 2 is legitimate. If that’s the case I’ll have to find a new series to put towards my trilogy on my 2015 reading challenge. I’m going to keep trying (kinda) but if by the end of August I haven’t finished it I think I’ll DNF.

What did you recently finish?

I recently finished:

Sadly I didn’t read nearly as much as I have been. I’ve been super busy and recently the books I’ve been picking up I haven’t been feeling or it’s slow for me to read through.

What do you plan on reading?

As for the past two WWW Wednesdays, I want to read Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen soon and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I also plan to start A Really Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. I’ve heard good things about it and it is relatively short even if the book is the size of a 3 subject star spiral notebook.

Hello everyone! Once again it’s Wednesday. So it’s meme time. 😀 This meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words but was originally hosted on Should Be Reading. To do the meme answer these three questions:

What are you currently reading?

the name of the starCurrently I’m about a quarter of the way through The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson. This is a reread for me. I read it when I first started college but I barely remember it. I was so weighted down with class work and required reading that it took me months to read which means I didn’t quite remember the beginning by the time I read the ending. I do remember enjoying it and so far it’s living up to that. It’s about a girl who has a near death experience in London right when a Jack the Ripper copycat appears. That’s all I’m saying.

I’ve also recently started 1984 by George Orwell. Because I was a different high school my sophomore1984 year, I wound up not reading this novel (and many more tbh) so I’m using this for my 2015 challenge for a book a should have read in high school. So far it’s not going well for me. I have such a hard time with classics. I think I need to read a physical copy instead of the kindle version I have so I think I might switch to that.

I’ve just started Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken as well. I really love The Darkest Minds so I can’t wait to delve into this one!

What did you recently finish?

I’ve been on a killer reading binge. Almost all of them will get a review soonish. Since last week I’ve finished:in this moment

What do you plan on reading?unlit star

Considering I only read one book I planned to this past week. I still want to read Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I also hope to read Soulless by Gail Carriger and maybe Unlit Star by Lindy Zart.

What are you currently reading?

SecretGarden8I’m in the middle of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. This was read to me in third grade but I obviously don’t really remember that. I decided to read it as part of my 2015 Reading challenge! So far I’m not sure what to think of it. Honestly, classics usually don’t work well from me with Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters being the exception. Even then it’s kind of difficult.51rwkxWTx1L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

I also started Kisses and Curses, a book of short stories put together by Fierce Reads and edited by Lauren Burniac! I’m only on the first short story which is a prequel to Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series. So far I really like the story and the inside look at Cinder’s life. I hope the other stories are just as interesting!

What did you recently finish reading?

EDIT: I forgot a book!!!

It took me about an hour to read all of In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang. I really enjoyed it and the meaning behind it. It was super light but still held an impact. I hope he makes sequels. Review to come.

I just finished rereading The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen. I’ve been doing a lot of rereading lately and I’m glad that Dessen’s novels especially are living up to my memory of them! I’ll post a full review soonish.

I also just finished Half Wild by Sally Green. This is the sequel to Half Bad. Green’s writing always takes me a while to get into but once I do I’m completely enthralled. Her style is so unique. But again a full review will be posted soonish!

I finished East by Edith Pattou early this week (like Sundayish). It’s a retelling of the fairytale East of the Sun, West of the Moon. And I definitely enjoyed it. Review should be up Thursday!

What do you think you’ll read next?

9781435129764_1I plan on reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (the beautiful Barnes and Noble Leather bound edition I might add), Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, and Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen. Lots of romancy stuff. I’ve just been in the mood for it lately. Most of these books will be featured in a book haul at the end of the month as well.
